Employment Opportunities at Camp PennbrookCamp Pennbrook is seeking general counselors and specialists for this season. The season runs from approximately June 20th to August 16th which includes staff orientation and training. We offer an opportunity for you to lose weight and participate in the program and receive the same benefits from our program that our campers receive. You receive room and board. Salary commensurate on background and experience.

First year counselors must be age 20 and over with at least one year of college. Specialists positions are available for experienced unit heads or group leaders, asst. director, charm and poise, drama, arts and crafts, office, and sports director.

Interviews are arranged in the New York City or Philadelphia areas. Since Camp Pennbrook runs a vigorous program, staff members must be in good shape prior to their arrival at camp so they can serve as role models and keep up with their campers. Participation in aerobics, all camp activities and sports is mandatory. Staff also go on some of the field trips with the campers. They are expected to help the campers and participate on trips to bowling alleys, ice skating, whitewater rafting, etc. The work is hard, the hours are long but it is a very rewarding experience while you help motivate the campers and help improve their self esteem. You MUST like working with children and have a positive attitude and outgoing personality while being a "team player."

Openings Are Available For:

  • General Counselors - live and participate with a group of children. Must be 19 and up with at least one year of college. Salary commensurate on age and years of college along with prior resident camp experience. Starting salary is $800 plus room and board.
  • Specialists - either work full time (4 or 5 periods a day) in their area of expertise, or serve as general counselors with a specialty in a certain area and work 1 or 2 periods a day in their area of expertise. Specialists must be certified for aerobics and lifeguards. Other jobs are in charm and poise, sports, softball, dramatics, arts and crafts, tennis, soccer, lacrosse. There are also openings for nurses (RN or LPN) and office staff, and nutritionist and registered dieticians.
  • Group Leaders - are unit heads in charge of a specific age group. Must have prior resident camp experience. Are in charge of approximately 30-35 children and a staff of 5 or 6 (run the group, organize trips, schedules, etc).

All staff members are required to attend staff orientation, read and sign the staff rules and regulations and handbook, and follow procedures on days off, time off, periods off, etc.
